After 40 days of fasting
No meat
No Breakfast
My grandmother would make poolore rice.
A chewy rice steamed in woven coconut leaf cone shaped basket, and boiled with thick coconut milk and jaggary or sugar. It's so tasty and I have never eaten this anywhere else.
She had been doing this every Easter for breakfast, at our ancestral home (see photo) - where we grew up &which is still our family's home. This had been our family tradition.
Risen Christ was what I witnessed everyday as a child. I still vividly remember that picture of Christ rising into the clouds, hanging up above the hall door frame in the Portico. I always felt he was carrying me on his shoulders... my ONLY father, protecting me always!
When my GOD is with me, what more could I want * for he shall oint my head and feast with me... raising me to new heights!

LEAP YEAR Once More
Mummy gets us excited about Leap Year even when we were very little. Moments together like that I wish... would come at least every Leap year.
She would tell us that we are lucky that we do not have our Birthdays on Feb.29th. We would have had to wait 4 years to celebrate one birthday. As soon as we start to feel sorry for those with leap year Birthdays, she would add ' oh, but this is a unique day & that makes it a very special birthday.
There was that age when we counted our age by the number of Birtjday cakes we have had thus far. She explained that each Leap year B'Day cake would have three little cupcakes hidden inside. And that made sense. But also made us want to have a Leap Year Birthday!
